Things to Do in Englewood, FL
Englewood is a beautiful and calm town located in Sarasota County in the bustling and vibrant state of Florida. Known for its beaches, coastline, friendly people, local seafood, and fun attractions, FL is always a popular get-away spot. But instead of going to the overcrowded cities of Tampa or Orlando, we have a better idea — Englewood is home to beautiful white-sand beaches, natural areas, watersports, educational museums, and boardwalks that are perfect for having a wholesome and healthy vacation. Let’s check out the top things to do in Englewood, Florida!
Ann and Chuck Denver Memorial Park
One of the best spots to head to during your vacation in Englewood is Ann and Chuck Denver Memorial Park. This cool recreational area is a sprawling public place that offers hiking trails for early morning walks, sports fields for playing “catch” with your kids, children’s playground for keeping your young kids entertained, and multiple basketball and tennis courts that are great for staying active and healthy during your stay in Englewood. We also love the large, 8-lane swimming pool that offers a nice respite from the ever-present Floridian heat!
Stump Pass Beach State Park
Another cool outdoor-centric spot to check out during your time in Englewood is the Stump Pass beach State Park, providing extensive and unrestricted views of the bright blue water, sprawling forests, and coastline along the Gulf of Mexico. Plus, this area is a lesser-known fishing spot that provides some of the best catches in the entire state! Head here early in the morning with a reel and some bait to see if you can catch a fresh fish for lunch to cook in your modern and spacious 2023 Cape Coral condo.
We also love coming here any time of the week to camp out on the beach, bringing an umbrella to read a book in the hot sun, running into the water in the middle of the day, and walking along the coast to find beautiful shells to bring back home as souvenirs. You can also head to the kayak, canoe, and stand-up paddleboard launch site to float along the water and get in some exercise.
Relax at Manasota Key Beach
If you just can’t get enough of the pristine beaches and bright blue waters that Englewood is so famous for, we recommend going to Manasota Key Beach to chill out, relax, and enjoy nature. This expansive beach is a quieter and more remote option than many other coastal spots in the state, offering a much-needed break from crowded beaches like Siesta key. Head here to go for a walk along the water, swim in the waves, and challenge some friendly neighbors to pick-up volleyball games!
Lemon Bay Park
We love going to Lemon Bay Park and Environmental Center with our children to teach them about the flora, fauna, and marine wildlife that frequent the Sunshine State. This spacious nature park located in a convenient area of Englewood is perfect for a half-day or full-day trip. You can go birdwatching, walk along the mangrove trees, and even bring takeaway food to enjoy an al fresco picnic lunch while gazing at the bright blue water.
Grab Some Fresh Produce at the Farmer’s Market
One of our favorite things to do early in the morning before everyone wakes up is to go into town, get a coffee, and then head to the farmers market on Dearborn Street. This famous farmer’s market is every Thursday morning until the end of May, offering fresh produce, local food, baked goods, artisan items, exotic flowers, and regional specialties. Head here for a drink, snack, groceries, or even an early-morning meal from one of the food trucks.
Stump Pass Marina
If you come to Florida, one of the best ways to see all that this state has to offer is to travel along one of the many waterways. Florida has no shortage of water, whether that is from bays, the ocean, or rivers. The Stump Pass Marina is a large marina that features boat docks and boardwalks that are perfect for storing your boat, tanning, and spending time by the water.
This marina is conveniently located right on the Gulf of Mexico Intracoastal Waterway, providing boat owners with a functional way to travel throughout the Englewood area. And even if you don’t have a boat, you can come here to buy fishing gear, such as tackle and reels, to then cast a line on one of the nearby piers. Once you get hungry, head to the tiki restaurant to get some ice-cold beers and fresh seafood!
